Pre-College Programs 2023 BRING YOUR ACADEMICS TO LIFE The Accelerate Pre-College Programs give talented high school students from around the world the opportunity to participate in immersive, experiential programs with acclaimed Northeastern faculty members. As a result, students get to experience the best of all worlds.
THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE > Accelerate gives students a taste of the college experience and what it means to be a Husky. > Programs are designed for various high school levels. > Students are encouraged to explore several academic areas to find their passion.
THE PROGRAMS > Programs are hosted on the Boston campus, our global campuses, and online. > Accelerate programs run in various formats throughout the year, such as residential for rising juniors and seniors and bootcamp-style programs throughout the academic year.
THE ACADEMICS > State-of-the-art facilities help students apply their classroom learning to the real world. > Students benefit from in-depth and meaningful classroom discussions. > The small cohort sizes allow for personalized attention from faculty.

PAST ACCELERATE PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMS HAVE INCLUDED: BIOENGINEERING IMMERSION > Learn the basics of bioengineering and engineering design principles while working on cutting-edge projects, such as 3D printing artificial implants. > Complete labs on tissue engineering, medical implant design and testing, and biomedical circuit design.
ENGINEERING INNOVATION AND DESIGN
CYBERSECURITY AND PRIVACY > Explore topics such as system and network security, online privacy, foundations of trust, and ethics. > Learn how to build secure systems that today’s companies and organizations need to protect themselves from hackers and security breaches.
ETHICS AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
> Learn the basics of engineering design principles in the context of several themes: Robotics in Service to Society, Sustainability in a Changing World, and Product Design.
> Explore social sciences and humanities by studying the relationships between technology and knowledge and society and ethics.
> Research and complete hands-on projects under these themes using our newly redesigned college Makerspace.
> Develop a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between the technological, artistic, informational, and social aspects of our world.
EXPERIENTIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
INNOVATIONS IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS
> Build a startup as part of a team and pitch your ideas in front of a panel of entrepreneurs.
> Explore a range of healthcare careers and meet with healthcare professionals through this interactive, experiential program.
> Access industry professionals who will guide topics, such as finding and growing an audience, business planning, product development, negotiation, pitch presentations, and more.
> Participate in medical simulations, learn clinical skills, tour rehabilitation facilities and local hospitals, engage in research activities in campus research labs, and participate in a health hackathon.
INTERACTION AND GAMES IN EXTENDED REALITY > Dive into the world of augmented and virtual reality, learning technical skills such as scripting and coding, interaction design, and game system design.
