Summer Scholars a day in the life

At Summer Scholars, you will experience all of the unique qualities that make Notre Dame home — world class academics, intentional community, servant leadership, and spirituality.

"Summer Scholars was overall one of the greatest experiences in my life. I got to meet so many different people and created lasting friendships. It was also an eye opening experience to feel how college was really like."

ACADEMICS

Discover your passions in an encouraging environment with other like-minded students from around the globe by participating in an academic track ranging from STEM and the humanities to business and fine arts. Courses are taught by Notre Dame faculty and students receive one college credit from the University of Notre Dame upon completion of the program.

COMMUNITY

Ice skate in Compton Arena, perform at open mic night, compete in Bookstore Basketball, nerd-out at trivia, play Capture the Flag across campus and much more to introduce you to the active student life at ND. You will be paired with a roommate during your two weeks on campus and bond with a section from your residence hall to create truly life-long friendships.

Resident Counselors

Our Resident Counselors (RCs) are current Notre Dame undergraduates who work directly with you to support and mentor you throughout your on campus experience. RCs also facilitate community events and serve alongside you with our community partner organizations.

SERVICE

Service is at the heart of the Notre Dame community: we believe true leadership requires action in order to become a force for good in your community and for a world in need. You will have the opportunity to choose an organization to learn from and serve. Projects may include walking dogs at the local shelter, collecting donations at a food drive, mentoring children, or planting vegetables at a community garden.

"Unity Gardens is an amazing idea to help people and build communities and healthy eating in the process. I had a lot of fun, even weeding plants! "
" I'm leaving inspired to help change my community and make a difference. "

SPIRITUALITY

The University is dedicated to the pursuit and sharing of truth for its own sake. As a Catholic university, one of its distinctive goals is to provide a forum where, through free inquiry and open discussion, the various lines of Catholic thought may intersect with all the forms of knowledge found in the arts, sciences, professions, and every other area of human scholarship and creativity.

Masses and non-denominational prayer services are offered for students who would like to attend. We host a closing mass on our last day together at the Grotto.

Whatever your worldview we invite you to come with an open mind, ready to engage with students from various backgrounds in faith and tradition.
"I loved the combination of social and educational interaction in and outside of the classroom. The professors were members of the University's world class faculty and the projects and assignments completed were designed to challenge and intellectually stimulate us. It was a privilege to be able to learn and grow as students with them over the past two weeks. "
