Accelerate Pre-College Programs give talented high school students from around the world the opportunity to engage in immersive, experiential activities led by distinguished Northeastern University faculty members. This combination enables students to experience a genuine campus environment while benefiting from the expertise of renowned educators.
The College Experience
› Students are encouraged to find their passion by exploring academic areas.
› Accelerate gives students a taste of the college experience and what it means to be a Husky.
The Programs
› Programs are designed for rising juniors and rising seniors in high school.
› Two-week immersive residential programs are hosted at Northeastern’s campuses in Boston and Oakland.
› Commuter and other short-format programs are offered at select international locations.

› State-of-the-art facilities help students apply their classroom learning to the real world.
› Students benefit from in-depth and meaningful classroom discussions.

PAST ACCELERATE PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMS HAVE INCLUDED:
Bioengineering Immersion
› Learn the basics of bioengineering and engineering design principles while working on cutting-edge projects, such as 3D printing of artificial implants.
› Complete labs on tissue engineering, medical implant design and testing, and biomedical circuit design.
Cybersecurity and Privacy
› Explore topics such as system and network security, online privacy, foundations of trust, and ethics.
› Learn how to build secure systems that today’s companies and organizations need to protect themselves from hackers and security breaches.
Engineering Innovation and Design
› Get an introduction to engineering design principles in the context of several themes: Robotics in Service to Society, Sustainability in a Changing World, and Product Design.
› Research and complete hands-on projects under these themes using our newly redesigned Makerspace.
Ethics and Emerging Technologies
› Explore social sciences and humanities by studying the relationships and intersectionality among technology, knowledge, society, and ethics.
› Develop a deeper understanding of the complex interplay among the technological, artistic, informational, and social aspects of our world.
Experiential Entrepreneurship
› Build a startup as part of a team, and pitch your ideas in front of a panel of entrepreneurs.
› Access industry professionals who will guide topics such as finding and growing an audience, business planning, product development, negotiation, pitch presentations, and more.
Innovations in Health Professions
› Explore a range of health-related careers, and meet with healthcare professionals through this interactive, experiential program.
› Participate in medical simulations, learn clinical skills, and tour healthcare facilities.
Games in Extended Reality
› Dive into the world of augmented and virtual reality, learning technical skills such as scripting and coding, interaction design, and game system design.
› Craft an immersive interactive experience incorporating critique from faculty and peers.
