"Faithfully Queer: Moving from Acceptance to Affirmation in the Church"
Join us for a conversation with Rev. Dr. Emily Carrington Heath (they/them/theirs) and Rev. Heidi Carrington Heath (she/her/hers), married members of the queer community and ordained clergy in the United Church of Christ. The Revs. Heath will be sharing their stories of their faith journeys and answering questions about what it means to be queer Christians. Rev. Dr. Julie Mavity Maddalena, Lakeland University chaplain, assistant professor of philosophy and religion and Ulrich Ethicist in Residence, will facilitate the conversation.
The Rev. Dr. Emily Carrington Heath currently serves as Pastor of the Congregational Church in Exeter, New Hampshire and is a writer and public theologian. Their work has been heavily featured in Christian Century, the Huffington Post's religion section, the Still Speaking Writers' Group's Daily Devotions and more. They are currently completing their third book, a devotional for LGBTQ Christians and friends. Rev. Carrington Heath has spoken to numerous educational and religious groups on topics of faith, gender identity, LGBTQ+ rights, and public policy.
The Rev. Heidi Carrington Heath is a public theologian, writer, consultant and Spiritual Director. She is someone who holds joy and pain with the same breath, and is a teller of hard truths. She curates an online community on Facebook at Notes from the Chaplain, and serves on the Board of Directors for Young Clergy Women International.
