The MPH in Global Health Practicum season is in full swing as 17 graduate students began clocking field hours at the beginning of June. Five MPH students are working in Ghana over the summer supporting various global health programs in the capital city of Accra. “This is the first class to travel internationally since the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Leah Wells, MPH Program Coordinator who traveled to Accra in late June with St. Kate’s Global Programs Coordinator, Loriene Hammond.
St. Kate’s Public Health Department has partnered with the West African Aids Foundation (WAAF) and Child Family Health International (CFHI) to create meaningful practicum experiences for our students. “As education coordinators, these international site visits really bring global health to life, to help us better understand challenges and opportunities and in turn to better equip students for intercultural dynamics of working in modern-day public health systems,” Hammond said.
