Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bellarmine University is extending its early action deadline from Nov. 1 to Nov. 15, along with several other measures to offer high school students more flexibility during this trying time.

Students who apply by the early action deadline avoid an application fee and are notified of their institutional scholarship by November.

"We understand students now are facing real challenges, limitations and changes in their routine that could disrupt the usual admissions cycle,” said Dr. Michael Marshall, Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communication at Bellarmine. “We want to be as flexible as possible and meet them where they are.”

In addition to extending the early action deadline, Bellarmine’s admission office will:

- Allow students to activate the test-optional policy if they previously submitted test scores and their circumstances change. Bellarmine will become a test-optional school for undergraduate admission Fall 2021. When students apply to Bellarmine, they may choose to withhold their standardized test scores. Evaluations will based on high school records, experiences, engagement and other relevant factors. If students want to submit scores, they can. Click here for exceptions.

- Extend the test-optional option to home-schooled students.

These initiatives follow Bellarmine’s recently announced Public Price Promise, another program to support incoming students for Fall 2021. Bellarmine will match the price of a qualifying students’ flagship university – that’s often a state’s largest, oldest university. For example, for a Kentucky student, the cost to attend Bellarmine will not exceed tuition, fees, room and board at the University of Kentucky. Students must hold an unweighted 3.6 GPA and reside on campus all four years.

Bellarmine’s traditional means of support remain. Bellarmine guarantees a scholarship to every admitted first-year student. The average award was more than $30,000 for the fall 2020 class.

Those who visit campus, virtually or in person, along with completing the FAFSA form, will automatically earn the Trustee Scholarship of $6,000.

“Bellarmine works hard to make sure our excellent education is accessible to all families, no matter their financial circumstance, and we want to make every effort to accommodate student needs, now more than ever,” Marshall said.
