Colgate in Focus (CIF) provides prospective students the opportunity to engage with current students, faculty, and staff on a range of topics for a deeper understanding of diversity in Colgate's student experience.

In the spirit of Colgate’s Plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, CIF recognizes that, “a great institution is a diverse institution. It is one that brings students of different socioeconomic backgrounds, races and ethnicities, and religions to campus.” This program is one representation of Colgate’s commitment to the ideals of encouraging an inclusive community. It is intended for high school seniors who identify as low-income, first-generation, or other historically excluded backgrounds who have overcome unique personal or structural challenges in their journey to pursue post-secondary education.

CIF will be held in two parts this year. The first will be a series of online summer webinars that cover topics ranging from Colgate’s surrounding area and extracurricular opportunities, to succeeding in a liberal arts environment. The second part will be a trip to Colgate for an on-campus CIF program, paid for by the university, for you and 1 parent or guardian.

On-Campus CIF Program

October 1-2, 2023

After you have reviewed the content of the webinars, we encourage you to apply to visit Colgate's campus in October. This trip will be fully paid for by the university.  We will welcome you and one parent or guardian to a full campus experience including opportunities to:

  • Tour the campus
  • Sit in on a Colgate class
  • Have personal conversations and meals with current students and staff

We will be welcoming approximately 25-30 students to the on campus program. Applications must be submitted by August 18.
