Apply to the Mount

We are excited that you're interested in applying to Mount Saint Mary's University. We look forward to reviewing your application!

We review applications and admit students on a rolling basis. We do have both an Early Action and a Priority Deadline and we recommend students apply as soon as possible.

  • December 1 - Early Action Deadline

Students who complete their application by December 1 will receive their admission decision by mid-January. This is not a binding commitment and students have until May 1 to accept their admission offer. Students who are interested in the following programs must apply by the Early Action Deadline:
    • Le Puy Founders' Scholarship
    • Direct-to-Nursing Consideration
    • The Honors Program
  • January 15 - Priority Deadline

Students who complete their application by January 15 will receive their admission decision by the end of February. Admitted students who have submitted their FAFSA will receive their financial aid offers beginning in January.

  • After January 15 - Rolling Admission

We will continue to receive and review applications throughout the spring and summer as spaces are available. Note that international applicants must apply by July 1.

The following are the documents you will need for a completed first-year application to Mount Saint Mary’s University:

  • A completed application, which includes your personal statement. We offer two ways for students to apply; both applications are FREE to submit
  • High school transcript
    • Official high school transcript
      • We do accept unofficial transcripts for application review. Once you enroll, you will need to send an official transcript.
    • To submit your OFFICIAL high school transcript:
      • You can request this through your school's digital transcript system (such as Parchment, SCOIR, Naviance, etc.)
      • Your counselor can email it directly to admissions@msmu.edu
      • Your school can mail an official version to Office of Admissions, 10 Chester Place, Los Angeles, CA 90007
  • Recommendation letters are required for international students, but may be added after application submission. Recommendation letters for all other first-year applicants are optional.

Note that SAT and/or ACT scores are neither required nor considered

Students who were previously admitted to Mount Saint Mary's but did not enroll may complete our first-year reapplication form instead of resubmitting a new application. An updated personal statement (250-500 words) is required with the reapplication form. There is no reapplication fee and letters of recommendation are not required.

It's senior year - and we know that can be overwhelming. We've put together a timeline that can help guide your college search. Senior Year Timeline

Our admission policy is that any student who was born female or who identifies as female is eligible for admission to our traditional undergraduate women's university. A student with documents - such as transcripts, standardized test scores or FAFSA submissions - that include a gender designation that does not accurately reflect their gender identity is encouraged to bring this to the attention of the Office of Admission at the time of application.

NOTE that all genders are welcome to apply to our undergraduate Pre-Nursing program.
