There is an option to complete a specialization within the SLP program. These allow students to gain some depth of knowledge and clinical experience in an area of interest. The specializations are in the areas of Deafness, Autism, Medical, Early Intervention (RISE) and a bilingual extension to the Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certification. Each of these requires taking 2 courses beyond the program requirements.  Are you interested in a specialization?  *

There are some choices within the SLP program.  Answering the following questions will allow us to plan your program.
Please note: some practicum placements and/or specializations may require certain coursework.  This will be discussed on an individual basis during advisement.
Each student is required to take either CSD 535 Foundations of Aphasia, Right Hemisphere Brain Damage, and Dementia or  CSD 579 Assessment and Treatment of Cognitive Communication Disorders. (The other course can be taken as an elective and is required for students in the medical specialization.) Which would you like to take?
