    The Dr. David Sam Award 2024

    Elmhurst University is proud to offer the Dr. David Sam Award in recognition of Dr. Sam’s commitment to collaborating with Elmhurst University. In his tenure at Elgin Community College, Dr. Sam has promoted the value of a seamless transfer process to increase his students’ opportunities for bachelor degree completion.

    The Dr. David Sam Award will be given to one Elgin Community College student annually. The application will require an essay submission in which the student will discuss the importance of their education while capturing the role that Elgin Community College has played in their educational career as well as describe the grit needed to overcome any hardships or roadblocks on their journey.

    Elmhurst University is proud to offer The 2024 Dr. David Sam Award in recognition of Dr. Sam’s commitment to collaborating with Elmhurst University. 

    The Dr. David Sam Award will be awarded to one Elgin Community College student annually. The recipient of the Dr. David Sam Award will receive a $3,000 scholarship, renewable for 2 years of study. This award can be stacked on top of any merit-based scholarship offered by Elmhurst University.

    To Apply:

    1) The student must be in good academic standing at Elgin Community College to apply.
    2) The student must have applied and been admitted to Elmhurst University.
    3) The student must adhere to all scholarship application requirements and deadlines as set forth below.
    4) The student must be a first-time bachelor’s degree candidate and must plan to be enrolled full-time at Elmhurst University.
    5) The student must submit a 1-2 page, typed essay that describes why academics is important to them, how Elgin Community College has played a role in their education and discuss any hardships they have overcome to continue their education.
