Computer Science: Cybersecurity and Hacking

During the Computer Science Pre-college Program at Montclair State University, students will experience the work of a threat intelligence analyst through a fun, gamified, hands-on approach to learning about cybersecurity. Students will gain practical knowledge about becoming a Security Operations Center Analyst, a Threat Hunter, an Incident Responder, and a Cyber Intelligence Analyst. Students will learn:

  • Use Azure Data Explorer (ADX)
  • Use Kusto Query Language (KQL) to analyze intrusions and track threat actors
  • Experience life-like scenarios to develop analytical skills of industry professionals
  • Ask meaningful questions to solve problems
  • Experience the challenges of a capture the flag (ctf) competition

Students will also learn to work collaboratively in teams just as real world analysts work together. This course is for anyone interested in learning how to catch the “bad guys” no matter your skill level.
